For data storage, ArcFM uses Azure Cosmos DB, a modern database designed to handle information more flexibly than traditional systems. Most people are familiar with databases that look like neatly organized spreadsheets — fixed columns, rigid rows, and strict rules about what can go where. Cosmos DB works differently. Instead of forcing all data to follow one fixed structure, it allows each piece of information to shape itself into what’s needed. That flexibility means the system can evolve and grow as our applications do — so when new features or requirements come along, the database can adapt quickly without major overhauls.
