Group Settings

There are two default user groups: administrator and guest. You can create additional groups, for example, Engineering, Operations, or Maintenance.

Group permissions are:

  • View: a group has view-only permission for the selected feature.
  • Modify: a group has read/write permissions for the selected feature. View must also be selected to display the feature in the web view.

The table below describes permissions for each group.

Modify for all features.

You cannot modify administrator group permissions.

guest

View for selected features.

Only an administrator can modify guest password and permissions.

User-defined Default access for a new group is view for all features. An administrator must assign permissions.

Group Settings Interface

Below is the interface to add, modify, or delete a group.

  1. Group: List of user groups

  2. Session Inactivity Time-out: Period of inactivity (in minutes) after which a user is logged out. Allowable range is 15–240. Default: 15

  3. Feature menu tree: List of Com’X features for which you can set permissions

  4. Permissions: Determines the level of access users have to each feature: modify, view, or none
