Edit System Favorites

System favorites can be created either on the Features tab or on the Compatible Units tab. Favorites created on the Features tab are Feature Favorites that are generally used with ArcFM. Favorites created on the Compatible Units tab are CU Favorites that are generally used with Designer.

IMPORTANT: If you attempt to edit the System Favorites folder while it is being edited by another user, you receive a warning message. Any edits that you make to the System Favorites folder could be overwritten by the other user.
  1. Select the geodatabase in the ArcCatalog Table of Contents.
  2. Click the Favorites icon on the ArcFM Solution toolbar, or right-click and select ArcFM Favorites from the menu.
The ArcFM System Favorites Manager is displayed.
  3. Expand the plus symbol next to System Favorites to display and select your category.

The favorite icons differ based on whether they're a feature favorite () or a CU favorite .

  4. Right-click and select Edit Favorite to display the Edit Favorite dialog.

  5. Select the attribute fields to edit. To display coded values, click the field bar to display the down arrow.

TIP: If you’re editing a Feature Favorite, you can now skip to step 8.
  7. If you want to add additional CUs and related objects to the CU Favorite, right-click the CU node in the Create Favorite window, or right-click the CU Favorite in the System Favorites Manager on the Compatible Units tab, and then select from the following options:
    Add Non-GIS CU:
    1. Select one or more non-GIS CUs from the list.
    2. Select a value from the Work Function field.
    3. Enter a value in the Quantity field to indicate the number of each non-GIS CU that you want to add.
    4. To more quickly locate a specific non-GIS CU, enter its name in the Search field, and then click the Find Next button as needed.

Add Related: (This field lists the objects that may be related to the selected CU):

    1. Select Add Related | {Object}.
    2. In the Select CUs window, choose the CU(s) that correspond to the related objects you want to add.
    3. Select a value from the Work Function field.

IMPORTANT: When creating a CU Favorite, it is possible to edit fields in the Edit Favorite dialog that are configured to be CU Defining Attributes (CUDAs). However, these changes to the CUDA values do not persist in actual use. In ArcMap, when the user sends the CU Favorite to the Targets or Design tab, Designer overrides these changes and sets the fields back to the CUDA values for the current CU.
  8. Click Create Copy to add a copy of your System Favorites to the menu.
  9. Click OK to add favorite to the ArcFM System Favorites Manager display.
  10. Click Cancel to dismiss the Edit Favorite dialog.
  11. Click Apply to save your edits and retain the Edit Favorite dialog box.
IMPORTANT: If you want to view edits made by another user, you must stop editing (without saving your changes) and then start editing again. This refreshes the System Favorites folder.
