Configure Field Visibility and Search Capabilities

Field Visibility

Before you publish your map service for your Wavepoint deployment, in ArcMap make any desired changes to the field order and visibility.

  • In the Table of Contents, click the List By Source pane, which allows you to view the map's feature classes and tables.

  • Using each layer’s properties, adjust the field order and visibility.

IMPORTANT: Ensure field order and visibility are set on the F_CIRCUIT table.

Search

The search tool in Wavepoint labels the list of features according to their properties. In each layer’s properties, click the Display tab and adjust the Field settings.

For example, to easily identify fiber optic cables in the list presented by the search tool in Wavepoint, set the display field of the fiber optic cable feature class to the CableName field.

Subtypes

When preparing your data for the map service, ensure your subtype fields are populated.

Field Model Names

Ensure the model names below are assigned. These are required for Wavepoint to function properly.

  • FiberStatus: Assign this to a status field on your fiber strand table.

  • FiberPortStatus: Assign this to a status field on the following two tables:

    • Front Side Port: In the sample data, this table is called F_FRONTSIDEPORT. Because your company might have changed the table name, the important part is to assign the field model name FiberPortStatus to the status field in the table that bears the model name PatchPanelFrontSidePort.

    • Device Port: In the sample data, this table is called F_DEVICEPORT. Again, because your company might have changed the table name, the important part is to assign the same field model name FiberPortStatus to the status field in the table that bears the model name EndDevicePort.

  • PortType: Assign this to a port type field on your device port tables.
