Tile Packages

Tile packages are sets of tiles (images) pieced together to create a basemap. Tile packages are created in ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro, then saved as a .tpk or .vtpk file type.

IMPORTANT: For performance reasons, we strongly recommend vector tile packages (.vtpk). They are smaller in size, faster to generate, and faster to download. Read Esri’s documentation Share a Vector Tile Package for more information about these benefits.

On the Mapping tab > Tile Packages, upload the .tpk or .vtpk file for consumption in Designer XI. Here, you can also see existing packages, their Display Name, and their file size.

IMPORTANT: The projection used for the tile packages must match the projection used for the basemaps.
