Upstream Protection of the Equipment

To protect the capacitor bank, it is essential to have an upstream short circuit protection device (circuit breaker) which is compatible with the electrical network.

This device allows you to:

• Lockout your equipment

• Protects your capacitor bank against short circuits

Current Measurement for Automatic Power Factor Correction

The current transformer should have the following characteristics:

• 1 A or 5 A secondary

• Power rating greater than 5 VA

• CT’s class 1

Location of the current transformer:

• Install the CT upstream of the equipment and the receivers (motors)

• Avoid creating any branching in the setup

• The current transformer must be dedicated to the equipment for the following reason:

  • To prevent the transmission of inaccurate data to the controller

  • To maximize the benefits of equipment utilization

Current transformer secondary earth connection:

• The current transformer must be connected to earth
