- Navigate to the device from which you would like to ping the downstream meters.
-
On the Responder
toolbar, click the Ping Downstream Meters
tool.

In the map, click on the device.
IMPORTANT:
The device must be selectable and visible to ping. Further, it must be assigned a model name to support the ping procedure.

-
Click OK to close the confirmation message.
IMPORTANT:
-
For ping requests, the number of “meters” is the number of service point features that have an associated customer record. In other words, a service point without a customer is not included in the ping request.
-
When a meter has multiple customer records, only one ping request is sent for that meter.
-
Your administrator can set a limit to the number of meters that can be pinged at the same time. If you exceed the limit, the following message appears:
Follow the directions in the message to choose how to proceed. If you need the limit increased, discuss it with your administrator.
See the Configuration Guide help topic Limit Ping Meters Count in ArcMap.
-
- The ping request moves to Responder Explorer > Ping Requests tab.
