Verify Fiber Data is Converted to Use ArcFM Objects
While it is likely your fiber assets are already converted to use ArcFM Objects, this is a good time to verify. If they are not “ArcFM-ified,” you are unable to configure the ArcFM properties for your fiber assets. Further, if the assets are not “ArcFM-ified,” functionality within the application, such as tracing, does not work.
To verify, follow these steps:
-
Open ArcCatalog.
-
In the Catalog Tree, locate your geodatabase.
-
Expand your geodatabase until you find the fiber feature classes.
-
Right-click a fiber feature class, then choose Properties.
-
In the Feature Class Properties dialog > General tab, ensure you see “ArcFM” within the feature class type.
TIP: If you do not see “ArcFM” within the type, follow the steps below under Alternative Method to convert the feature class to use ArcFM objects (you can run the same tool described below on an individual feature class). -
Click Cancel to close the dialog.
-
Repeat for all other fiber feature classes.
Alternative Method
As an alternative:
-
Right-click the dataset that contains your fiber assets, then choose ArcFM Solution Object Converter.
-
Choose “Convert to use ArcFM Objects,” then click OK.
-
Click “Yes” to confirm.
