Instantaneous Trip Test

Instantaneous Trip Test Requirements

The system should be tested upon initial start-up and:

  • in accordance with a facility maintenance schedule;

  • if any of the components in the system are replaced.;.

  • if any work is done in the area of the system wiring;

  • if required per installation requirements.

Instantaneous Trip Test Necessary Tools

The following is needed to perform a tripping test:

  • EcoStruxure Power Commission Software

  • Mini B USB Cable

NOTE: EcoStruxure Power Commission Software can be downloaded from the Schneider Electric website (SE.com).

Instantaneous Trip Test Procedure

Connect the PC to the MicroLogic control unit using a USB cable.

Open the EcoStruxure Power Commission software and click on “Connect to device directly” (A). This will allow the user access to the MasterPacT MTZ circuit breaker through the commissioning tool.

Click on “CONNECT TO DEVICE” (B) to connect through direct USB connection.

Click on "Configure" (C) to configure the protection settings.

Click on the “Protection” tab (D).

Click “WRITE TO PROJECT” (E) to transfer the Device Values to the project.
This will transfer device values in all the tabs to the project and the project values and device values will be same.

Adjust the Instantaneous pickup (Ii) to the appropriate setting for the application (F).

Click on WRITE TO DEVICE (G).

Recheck the settings and click on “PROCEED” (H) . Enter the password and click on continue (I) to perform the operation.
The default password is 0000.

Click on the back icon (J) to view the Device page.

On the Device view screen, click on "Automatic trip tests" (K).

On the Automatic trip curve screen, select Pre-configured test point (L) or custom test point (M).

For Pre-configured test point:

Select the trip curve to be tested (N) and select “Instantaneous protection” (O) under the list of tests to perform.

 

For custom test point:

Enter the Injection current and Inject time (P).

NOTE: Injection current should be greater than the instantaneous pickup value for the application.

Click on “Run Test” (Q).

Read and understand the Notice. If understood, click “I UNDERSTAND” (R).

Enter the password and click “CONTINUE” (S).

NOTE: The default password is: “0000”

The automatic trip curve test is performed, and the test result are shown on the bottom of the screen.

Click on the Reports tab (T) and select Automatic trip test report (U) to generate the test report.

The test report shows the trip test result and can be saved as a pdf or printed.
