Installing the NF600SFBPPL kit, for a PowerPacT L Sub-Feed Circuit Breaker, onto an NF Interior

Tools Needed

  • #2 square-head Robertson®driver

  • Torque wrench with 3/8-in. Allen® driver

  • Torque wrench with 5/32-in. Allen® driver

  • Flat-head screwdriver

  • Phillips® #2 screwdriver

  • 4 mm Allen® driver

  • 6 mm Allen® driver

  • 8 mm Allen® driver

  • Torque wrench with 16 mm hex head nut driver

Installation

DANGER

  • Apply appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe electrical work practices. See NFPA 70E, CSA Z462, or NOM-029-STPS.
  • This equipment must only be installed and serviced by qualified electrical personnel.
  • Turn off all power supplying this equipment before working on or inside equipment.
  • Always use a properly rated voltage sensing device to confirm power is off.
  • Replace all devices, doors and covers before turning on power to this equipment.
Failure to follow these instructions will result in death or serious injury.
NOTICE
HAZARD OF EQUIPMENT DAMAGE
  • Do not install in weatherproof enclosures (NEMA type 3R, 5, 12, 4, 4X).
  • 600 A panelboard interiors are required for 400 A applications.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in equipment damage.
  1. Remove the backplane insulator from the panelboard by unsnapping the four corners from the end supports, and discard.

    NOTE: 600 A panelboard interiors are required for 400 A applications.


  2. Remove the deadfront assembly. Retain the four screws for reuse.


  3. Remove the neutral lugs and their screws from the neutral plate and discard.

  4. Install the neutral lug assemblies onto the neutral plate using the four 1/4-20 x 9/16-in. screws supplied in the kit. Tighten the four 1/4-20 x 9/16-in. screws to 60-65 lb-in. (6.8-7.3 N•m).


  5. Install the NF 6-in. rail extensions to the existing mounting rails on the line end. Use the rail spices and four 10-32 x 5/16-in. screws supplied in the kit.

  6. Attach the two deadfront support brackets using the two 10-32 x 5/16-in. self-tapping screws supplied in the kit.
