Using Fiber Manager for the First Time

Enable the Extension

Before you begin using Fiber Manager , you must enable the Fiber Manager extension. Click Customize > Extensions, and then select Fiber Manager .

TIP: If the DXI toolbar appears grayed out and inactive on your map, the most common reason is because the extension is not checked.

Verify Sort Threshold

Fiber assets have an abundance of related records, which you can view in the ArcFM Attribute Editor. Thus, you want to ensure your ArcFM Options are not set to limit the number of viewable records below what you require.

On the Main Menu, click Customize > ArcFM Options. On the General tab >Tree Properties, verify the “Enable Sort Threshold” is not set too low. For example, if you have a buffer tube that contains 48 fibers, then the Sort Threshold must be higher than 48 if you want to see all the fibers in the ArcFM Attribute Editor.

IMPORTANT: When you install ArcFM, it comes with a default Short Threshold of 25, even if the box is left unchecked. If you do not want a Sort Threshold, check the box and click Apply. Then, uncheck the box and click Apply. This “registers” the Sort Threshold option. After that point, the tool respects your settings of whether or not to have a threshold and at what number.
