Trace through a Splitter

When a trace encounters a splitter on one end, it initially stops at the splitter device and displays the various output paths emanating from that point forward. You can then click the desired output port to continue the trace along that path. The trace starts as the other traces do.
  1. Locate and click the desired port or fiber to initiate the trace.
  2. When the trace encounters a splitter, it pauses the trace and displays the splitter in both the one-line diagram and on the map. It displays the possible input and output ports on the diagram and their immediate cable connections on the map. For example, in this image, notice the trace has temporarily stopped at a 1 x 4 splitter, and there are two possible paths (on the map) from that device.

  3. To continue the trace, click the desired input or output port. For example, in the following image output port 1 was chosen, and the trace continued along that path.

  4. When you run a trace with splitters on each end, you end up with 2 traces. This example shows the trace details.

  5. To see the one line diagram of both traces, click First Path or Second Path. The assumes a path in both directions. The paths are also seen on the map.
