Import New Asset Categories

The Asset Management System solution has pre-configured categories that use two different calculation types: Common Network Asset Indices Methodology (CNAIM) and generic. Most of the configuration for the CNAIM classes are fixed but do allow some settings, such as interventions, to be changed. The rest of the parameters in the Interventions, parameters, and factors tab have values set by default.

IMPORTANT: Most values in the parameters tab do not need to be changed, but can be if needed.

The default categories are in the list, but if new categories are needed:

  1. From the upper right corner, click Import from file.

  2. In the window that opens, enter the Asset type name.

  3. From the menu, select the Asset class the new objects belong to.

  4. Click Upload asset type configuration file and browse to the applicable JSON file.

  5. Click Import asset type file and the new asset types are added to the list.

Each line in the asset category list has an action menu from the ellipsis:

  • Edit — open the category to see or edit the attributes, such as parameters, alarms, and layout of that asset.

  • Duplicate — copy one category to create another that has similar settings. A duplicated category can be edited quickly to be used in a filter or program.

  • Delete — removes the category from the list. An error is seen if a delete attempt is made and there are any assets in the category. You can see the number of assets in a category from the Edit menu.
