Communications setup
After wiring the meter’s serial communications ports,
you can configure these ports so you can connect to the meter remotely
and use device configuration software such as ION Setup to configure
the meter.
The setup screen allows you to configure the meter’s RS-485 communications port so you can use software to access the meter’s data or configure the meter remotely.
To turn on communication in setup screen, follow these steps:

Press and hold the Up and Down buttons simultaneously for 2 seconds to enter setup.

Enter password. Default password is 0000.

Press OK.

Press the Down button to select a CoM (communication) parameter.

Press OK.

Press the Down button to select on from the list.

Press OK.

Press and hold the Up and Down buttons simultaneously for 2 seconds to exit Setup.

Select Yes to save your settings.
RS-485 communication parameters

| Address | 1 to 247 | Set the address for this device. The address must be unique for each device in a communications loop. |
| Baud Rate | 4800, 9600, 19200, 38400 | Select the speed for data transmission. The baud rate must be the same for all devices in a communications loop. |

Select None if the parity bit is not used. The parity setting must be the same for all devices in a communications loop. |
NOTE: Communication parameters display ON / OFF / Retrofit (RTFT).
NOTE: Retrofit provides you an option of configuring legacy data models
for your device to communicate with newer models. (Applicable only in EM6400NG+ RS-485 meter model).
