Welcome to the Desktop Using Guide.

Here are some tips to help you find relevant information fast:

  • Topics are organized thematically in the Table of Contents along the left-hand side. Expand topics to reveal subtopics.

  • Use the Search field to type keywords you’re looking for. The Search defaults to querying within the current guide, but it also gives you the chance to query the entire catalog of guides. Further, it allows you to filter by product, guide type, and version. Enter your search terms to get started.

  • While reading a topic, press the down key to scroll down through the topic, press the right key to move to the next topic in the Table of Contents, and press the left key to move to the previous topic in the Table of Contents.

  • Want to send a topic to a co-worker? Click the Sharable Link tool. This copies the current topic’s URL straight to your clipboard, ready for you to paste into an email or other message.

  1. I saw a demo where a GIS editor was sketching features, and attribute prompts appeared while they were sketching. What were those attribute prompts?

    1. That sounds like a Template Favorite. A Template Favorite allows you to combine multiple feature types in a logical workflow, and when you Finish the Sketch, you can have dialogs prompt you for which attributes to use for those features. It is a great time saver and enhances data uniformity among editors. See the topic Features Pane and Feature Favorites to learn about all the different kinds of Favorites.
