Run the TraceAllFeeders Executable

With the exclusive SDE connection created, you can now run the standalone executable.
  1. Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Miner and Miner\ArcFM Solution\Bin.
  2. Double-click the TraceAllFeeders executable.

  3. In the Select Geometric Network dialog, perform the following steps:
    1. In Database Connections, double-click the SDE database connection you created exclusively for this tool.

    2. Navigate to your electric dataset, then double-click it to open.
    3. Locate your electric geometric network, then double-click it to start Trace All Feeders.

  4. A Tracing all feeders dialog appears displaying the progress of the tool.

    TraceAllFeeders executes the following procedures:

    a. Attempts a compress action on the geodatabase. This allows TraceAllFeeders to indicate if it is unable to compress during the sequence of events. Compress is crucial to performance on large networks.

    b. Identify all island features and set their FeederID, FeederID2, and FeederInfo values to reflect their island status.

    c. Trace all features energized by any circuit source and set their FeederID values accordingly. This is done one circuit (or feeder) at a time.

    d. Update the FeederSourceInfo field of the CircuitSource class to flag any feeders that possess loops or participate in a multiple-feed condition, based on results in Step C.

    e. Identify all non-island features that are not energized by any circuit source and set their FeederID accordingly. This is done by resuming a trace from each feature that stopped a tracing action in Step C (by virtue of its switching state and/or phase designation, as appropriate).

    f. Identify all tie or terminal devices and modify their FeederID values to reflect their tie or terminal device status. These devices are identified based on the trace performed in Step C.

  5. When the tool is complete, it displays summary statistics of the trace procedure. Click OK to close.
