Set Validation Rules

The ArcFM QA/QC tool in ArcMap uses validation rules to determine the validity of objects in the geodatabase. Class Validation Rules validate both features and objects as well as their related objects. Field Validation Rules determine whether a field in an object class holds a value from a set of coded domain values or within a range of numeric values.

To set validation rules, perform the following steps:

  1. Right-click the feature in the Catalog Tree and select ArcFM Properties Manager.
  2. Validate the different rules as follows:
    • Class Validation rules: Select the Object Info tab. Select the checkbox of the rule(s) you want enabled.

    • Esri Field Rules: Verify that the values fall within coded value or range domains. Refer to Esri documentation for more information.

    • Esri Rules: Verify connectivity and relationship rules. Refer to Esri documentation for more information.

    • Field Validation rules: Select the Field Info tab. Choose from the Validation Rules field.
