Colors

You can control the colors of ports by their status and function. The following image is just an example, and your attributes and colors differ depending on your company’s data model:

End users see these colors any time they are viewing a fiber asset that includes ports.

Port Status Colors

Click the color selector to choose a color per port status.

TIP: Where does this list of statuses come from? The fiber assets that have ports have a status field, and that field is “hooked up” to a domain of statuses. This interface displays the values in that domain.

You can toggle the color selector to have more control of the color.

TIP: We recommend not making the colors transparent. Fully opaque colors are easier to discern in the application.

Always click Save at the bottom of the interface to accept your changes.

Port Function Colors

A fiber asset that splits light has a “common” port and a “split” port.

  • Common ports typically have receive, common, or input in their names or designations.

  • Split ports typically have transmit, split, or output in their names or designations.

These two “sides” or functions of the port can be color coded in the application.

To color code the ports by function, follow these steps:

  1. By Port Function Colors, click the Add New button.

  2. Type a name for the function. This help topic uses “common” as an example, but as stated above, the name could be something else like “input” or “receive.” Type what your end users know and prefer.

  3. Use the color selector to choose a color for the function.

  4. By Selected Model Names, click the Edit button.

  5. Check the boxes next to the fiber assets that belong to the function group, then click Apply.

  6. Click Save at the bottom of the interface.

  7. Repeat for other functions.
