Updating Firmware of MicroLogic X Control Unit

Prerequisites

The prerequisites for updating MicroLogic X firmware are the following:

  • The latest version of EcoStruxure Power Commission software is downloaded and installed on the PC.

  • The PC is connected to a power supply. Standby mode is deactivated to avoid the possibility of interruption during the update.

  • The PC is connected to the mini USB port on the MicroLogic X control unit by using the USB cable with part number LV850067SP.

  • The MicroLogic X control unit is continuously powered during the firmware update.

    • When the control unit is not connected to other ULP modules, it is powered by the PC through the mini USB port.

    • When the control unit is connected to other ULP modules, it is powered by an external 24 Vdc power supply.

Procedure for Updating MicroLogic X Firmware

NOTICE
HAZARD OF INTERRUPTION OF POWER SUPPLY
  • The MicroLogic X control unit must be continuously powered during the firmware update.
  • Do not disconnect the USB cable before clicking the CLOSE button at the end of the update procedure with EcoStruxure Power Commission software.
  • Do not perform a replacement of the MicroLogic X display screen during the firmware update.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in deterioration of the control unit.

During the firmware update, the standard protection functions of the MicroLogic X control unit are operational. No data or measurements are available or refreshed on the different communication interfaces.

Follow this procedure to update the firmware version of the MicroLogic X control unit:

Step Action
1 Disable all wireless access (Bluetooth and NFC) between the MicroLogic X control unit and a smartphone.
2 Use the USB cable with part number LV850067SP to connect a PC to the mini USB port on the front face of the MicroLogic X control unit.

Click Connect to device directly.

Fill in the project details and click NEXT.

Fill in the end user site details and click CONTINUE.

The MasterPact MTZ device is displayed.

If a new MicroLogic X firmware version is available, a blue pop-up message is displayed to invite the user to update the firmware.

Click CONNECT TO DEVICE.

7 Go to the Configure section and click Write to Project to save the MicroLogic X settings.
8 Click Firmware.

Click UPGRADE to launch the firmware update.

EcoStruxure Power Commission software displays a safety message. Read the message and click I UNDERSTAND to continue.

EcoStruxure Power Commission software asks you to confirm the update. Enter the Administrator password and click CONTINUE.

EcoStruxure Power Commission software displays the following message during an update:

The update takes approximately 10 minutes.

NOTE: Do not connect a smartphone to the MicroLogic X control unit during the firmware update.

NOTE: During the firmware update, the standard protection functions of the MicroLogic X control unit are operational. No data or measurements are available or refreshed on the different communication interfaces.

The MicroLogic X control unit screen displays the following message during an update:

When the update is finished, EcoStruxure Power Commission software displays a message indicating that the device has been successfully updated. Click CLOSE to acknowledge.

Result: EcoStruxure Power Commission software indicates other Enerlin’X devices which need to be updated, if any. If the page does not refresh automatically, click REFRESH.

The status indicates whether the firmware of other modules is compatible with the firmware version of the MicroLogic control unit:

  • Green: compatible, update is not mandatory

  • Red: firmware not compatible, update firmware or upgrade the module to a later version

15 Update the firmware version of associated Enerlin’X devices, if any (see Updating Firmware of Enerlin’X Devices).

NOTE: When updating aMicroLogic X control unit with firmware version 001.000.200 to the latest version of the firmware, red pop-up trip or alarm messages may be displayed on the MicroLogic X display screen following the firmware update. This corresponds to trip or alarm messages that were not acknowledged by the user before the firmware update. Press the ESC button on the control unit to remove these messages.
