Field Visibility and Display Name
There are a few important considerations regarding Wavepoint’s access to data fields:
-
Wavepoint’s access to the underlying fiber data is only through the published service. Thus, if you turn off fields, you hamper Wavepoint’s functionality.
In the Layer Properties dialog > Fields tab, ensure all layers are checked to be visible:
-
Wavepoint always lists fields in alphabetical order regardless of how they are sorted in ArcMap. Sorting layers in the Fields tab does not change their display order in Wavepoint.
-
Each fiber facility in Wavepoint has a display name. This is configured in the Layer Properties dialog > Display tab:
And this choice is seen in Wavepoint:
-
You can choose one field to act as the display name field. Wavepoint does not support field expressions (for example, concatenating multiple fields) for the display name.
-
If you do not choose a display field (or if the chosen field is null), Wavepoint uses the ObjectID.
Because this is not very helpful, we recommend choosing a relevant field that is usually populated.
