Save the Map

You use the same underlying map to initially publish the service and subsequently re-publish the service with tweaks and changes. Thus, ensure you save the map in an area you can easily access later. In fact, we recommend you save it as a Stored Display, and in that manner you do not need to keep track of a separate .mxd. If you prefer to save as a separate .mxd, that is OK and is also supported.
