Design Styles

In Designer XI, a Design Style determines the look and feel of the components in the map, including the symbols, colors, and labels. Design Styles determine the symbology for both existing components and new components that in DXI you add to your design. Design Styles can be considered similar to Stored Displays in the ArcFM Desktop Suite.

Design Styles themselves are configured in the DXI plugin, and are uploaded and configured in the same way as other Design Styles for DXI.

Take it for a drive!

(The link opens/switches to the Solution Center app, accesses the Mobile plugin, and selects the Designs tab.)

ArcFM Mobile supports one Design Style for gas designs and one Design Style for electric designs. Mobile Design Style samples can be found on myarcfm.

IMPORTANT: .stylx Style Files are downloaded to Mobile devices on startup of the app. If you make any changes that affect .stylx files and re-upload them, your users then need to restart the app to see the changes.

TIP: ArcFM Mobile respects the Reference Scale that is set for each configured Design Style.

You can edit and download Mobile Design Styles as you would any other type of design style that you configure.

  1. In the ArcFM Mobile plugin, select the Designs tab.

  2. Toggle the Use Design Styles button.

  3. Select a Design Style from the appropriate electric/gas drop-down lists.

Your users can then access the ArcFM Mobile app, select the appropriate operational map, and open the desired design.

Labels

For labels to appear in the ArcFM Mobile app, the Hidden by Default attribute on the label must be set to false. Any labels that are configured to be hidden by default do not show in ArcFM Mobile. Conversely, any labels that are configured to not be hidden by default do indeed display.

Additionally, we recommend that you use web-safe fonts, a list of which is available at W3Schools. Those are fonts that display well across Windows, iOS, and Android platforms.
