Associate Conductors and Cables to Ducts

This step allows you to assign conductors and cables to specific ducts within a duct bank or unrelate existing conductor/duct assignments. Before this step may be performed, the conduit must be associated to a duct bank in the diagram.

Associate

  1. Expand Associate Conductors and Cables to Ducts step.
  2. Select Associate Conductors and Cables to Ducts task.
  3. Select the Disassociated Items tab.
  4. In the Conductors section, click the Zoom In or Zoom Out button to determine the extent of the search buffer. The buffer is used to search for conductors and cables in proximity to the conduit. The window above these buttons lists the found conductors or cables. A message indicates the size of the buffer.
  5. In the Duct Banks section, select the Select Duct Bank button and click a duct bank on the diagram. The window displays the available ducts in the selected duct bank. When you select a conductor/cable or duct on the Disassociated Items tab, the feature is highlighted on the diagram.
  6. Click the Associate button to associate the selected conductor and duct.

Nothing will change in the user interface to indicate that you've made the association. To see the change, select the Associated Items tab and select the duct bank to which the conductor was associated. You will see the duct and associated conductor there.

  7. To confirm the association, click the Associated Items tab.
  8. Under Ducts, expand the Duct to find the associated cable.
  9. If necessary, click up or down to increase or decrease the Number of Cable Instances to represent multiple cables on the same phase. See Number of Cables for more information about this function.
TIP: Increasing or decreasing the Number of Cable Instances immediately applies the change. In other words, there is not an Apply button. You should still save your edits as you normally would during any edit session.

Disassociate

  1. Expand Associate Conductors and Cables to Ducts step.
  2. Select Associate Conductors and Cables to Ducts task.
  3. Select the Associated Items tab.
  4. Select the Select Duct Bank button and click a duct bank on the diagram. The window displays the ducts that have related conductors or cables.
  5. Select a duct or a conductor and click the Disassociate button.
