The Map area of the Mobile app is where you access the Backdrop and Operational maps that are part of the Packages downloaded via the Settings tab.

Select the maps you want to view by clicking the Map button on the left side of the app.

The app displays either online or offline data automatically based on the device's ability to connect to the online map service.

If your device is unable to connect to the online map service due to a lack of internet connection, disconnected VPN, or any other reason, the app automatically shows any downloaded offline data for the currently selected map. If no offline data has been downloaded for the selected map, no data is shown until the device's connection to the map service is restored.

View Different Maps

Icons next to each map in the list indicate if it contains components that are offline.

  • Online-only maps have a cloud icon next to them.

  • Maps with offline components that are downloaded to your device have a downloaded icon next to them.

Basemaps are shown under the Backdrop tab.

Maps of facilities, parcels, and other searchable maps are shown under the Operational tab. Each operational map may contain offline and online data.

Click once on a map to interact with it in the map pane.

If you are in offline mode, on the Operational tab, every online-only map is greyed out.

View Only Offline Maps

To view only offline maps, click the offline mode button. Consider using this functionality if you are going to be working in an area with poor internet connectivity, or if your organization is trying to limit data plan consumption. When offline mode is selected, performing a search or an identify returns results only from data that has been downloaded.

A line through the button indicates that no online maps are available. All online maps disappear from the map and online-only maps are not selectable on the Map tab.

If you go back online and your device loses connectivity, the icon toggles between online and offline .

TIP: This button might be disabled if your administrator has configured ArcFM Mobile to use only offline data.

When online mode is selected, the map display, search, and identify tools stream data from the map server. If the device loses connectivity while online mode is enabled, the app automatically switches to use offline data. In this case, the icon does not toggle from online to offline. When connectivity is re-established, the app automatically reverts to streamed data.
