Attach Photos to Markups

In the following example, we place a callout next to a switch cabinet, attach photos of the transformer, and use the image editor to add helpful text plus some freehand drawing.

  1. Tap on the toolbar to add a callout in the map.

  2. In the Markups pane, tap the pencil edit button to rename the job as appropriate.

  3. To attach photos to the markup, tap the Camera icon, and select to take a picture or to view the gallery.

  4. Choose your photos and tap Add. The selected photos are attached to the markup, and circular dots under the photos indicate that more than one is attached.

IMPORTANT: If the total size of all photos you want to upload exceeds 100 MB, you are prevented from uploading the most recent photo or batch of photos.

Edit Photos

When you need to edit a photo, such as switch its orientation or add helpful text/arrows to aid in communication back to the office, select a photo to enlarge it and allow editing. Text, Drawing & Shapes, and Crop & Rotate tools are available underneath the photo.

  1. Tap Drawing & Shapes to access the freehand tools, which allow you to draw whatever you want in the photo. First, select the following settings for drawing:

    • — change drawing color to one of six options

    • — change drawing opacity using the slider button

    • — change drawing thickness using the slider button

After you move the opacity slider or the thickness slider, in the middle of the photo a dot briefly appears, representing the color, opacity, and thickness that you chose above.

  2. When you are finished with the above settings, tap to create your freehand drawing in the photo.

  3. Use the additional tools in the Drawing & Shapes menu to aid in highlighting important aspects of the photo.
    • — place a square on the image and provides access to the color picker, opacity, and thickness tools

    • — place a circle on the image and provides access to the color picker, opacity, and thickness tools

    • — place a line or arrow on the image and provides access to the color picker, opacity, and thickness tools

  4. Use the Text tool to add helpful information regarding elements in the photo. The following tools help you choose the settings for your text:
    • — change text color to one of six selections

    • — change font type to one of six options

    • — change the left, center, or right justification

    • — change text to bold, italic, and/or underline

    • — change text opacity using the slider button

  5. Tap +Add and type the text you want displayed, then tap OK.

iOS only: When you select an existing textbox, you need to perform a long press or immediately drag the textbox after placement. Otherwise, rather than select the textbox, the edit text dialogue might display.

  6. The Crop & Rotate tools enable you to flip a photo on its horizontal or vertical axis and crop out unnecessary parts.
    • — crop the photo by selecting from various aspect ratios, or dragging the vertices as needed

    • — rotate the photo on a horizontal axis

    • — flip the photo on a vertical axis

    IMPORTANT:
    • If you need to crop, rotate, or flip the photo, use those tools prior to adding text, otherwise the text might end up reversed or upside down.

    • When you do perform an image transformation (crop/rotate/flip), the Undo operation is not available.

  7. Above the photo, tap Reset to remove all of your edits. Alternatively, use the undo/redo arrows to reset or redo edits one by one.
  8. Tap Save to save your edits to a photo.
