Tracing

Tracing allows field crews to identify the parts of an electric or gas system that would be affected if a part of that system needed to be isolated. The benefits of tracing include the ability to visualize network flow with electric and gas traces while in the field; to identify upstream and downstream devices; and to quickly identify devices to isolate areas of the network.

Tracing can be performed on electric data in the Geometric Network. Gas tracing is unsupported on the Geometric Network, but Utility Network gas tracing will become available in 2025.

IMPORTANT: Tracing takes place only on downloaded data, so be certain you've downloaded all the data on which you want to trace.
