Add or Edit Scheduled Entries

You can schedule entries for GDBM XI on the Schedules tab. This gives you the ability to schedule reconcile and post activities to automatically occur at a time of day that works best for your organization.

IMPORTANT: In GDBM XI, we recommend that you not run all-day reconcile, as was the case for performance reasons in the Geometric Network. Versioning in the Utility Network (UN) does not require running reconcile during the day. Instead, running reconcile all day opens up the possibility of locking issues.

You can also edit a schedule entry on the Schedules tab. You can change as few or as many settings in the scheduled entry as you want while editing.

  1. Click the Add button. To edit an entry, click the Edit button in line with the scheduled entry you want to change. The next view for both adding or editing a scheduled entry is identical.

When the display updates, the drop-down for start day defaults to the same day you selected on the Schedules tab when you clicked the Add button. The stop day defaults to the next day. If you are editing an entry, the start day defaults to the currently set day.

  2. Select your preferred START and STOP times for the scheduled entry using the drop-downs. Times with a resolution of one minute can be specified.

Your licensing terms dictate the maximum number of schedule entries you can run at once. For example, if your license specifies three seats, then at any given moment in time, you can run no more than three separate schedule entries simultaneously. When you try to schedule a fourth entry for the same time that the other three entries are currently scheduled, a message is displayed in red text to alert you.

  3. Use the toggles to select if you want to the entry to perform a reconcile, perform a post, or perform both.
  4. In the Action Handler Program drop-down, select the action handler you want to apply.

An Action Handler Program is a complete definition of actions that occur at each of the possible events in the GDBM XI processing workflow. Individual action handlers are assigned to each event for which you require additional actions to be performed. Refer to the Handlers Tab topic for more detail. For the chosen scheduled entry, you must specify the name of the Action Handler Program that applies during the processing.

Once you select an action handler, the Feature Service is displayed in addition to the Description.

  5. In the Number of Versions Processed Simultaneously drop-down, select the maximum number of versions you want to process simultaneously for this scheduled entry.

As explained above in Step 2, your licensing terms dictate the number of schedules you can have running simultaneously. This also equates to the number of processes running at the same time to reconcile versions.

  6. Click Save.

The display changes back to the default Schedules tab view, and the new scheduled entry is added to the list. Or, if you edited an existing entry, that entry is updated in the list. If you edit a scheduled entry’s execution day, you must click on that day of the week to view it.

If you decide you don’t want to add a new or edit a scheduled entry after you start editing, click the Cancel button to abort the edits made and return to the Schedules tab.
