Add New Handler
- Click the Create New Handler
button.
- Select the Handler Type from the drop-down.TIP: If you create a custom Handler Type, you’re going to need the action handler URL for a later step.
- Type a useful name in the Handler Name field. This field is required for all handler types.
- The Description is automatically populated when you select an out-of-the-box handler type, but you can add to or change the default description. If you are creating a custom handler, you can provide a description of your choosing.
- If you selected a custom handler type, you must type the action handler URL in the URL field. Otherwise, this field is automatically populated, and not editable, for the out-of-the-box handler types.
- Response Type is also auto-populated for out-of-the-box handler types. For custom handlers, you need to select a Response Type from the drop-down. See the Response Type topic to learn more.
- Click Save to finish creating a new handler. The Handlers list updates and displays your new handler.
- When creating an Update Subnetwork Handler type, after clicking Save, two properties are automatically added. Type your Domain Network Name and Tier for the subnetwork to which the handler applies.
Once an out-of-the-box handler is created, only the Description field and Properties fields are editable. Custom handlers allow all fields to be edited, with the exception of the Handler Type field.
Configure Handler Time Out
Handlers have a configurable time-out response so you can set a handler to work best with the requirements of your systems. This is particularly helpful for long-running handlers to give them enough time to successfully complete.
After you create and save a new handler, the Times Out After setting becomes available.
The default time out setting is two minutes. You can adjust the Hours, Minutes, and Seconds to the amount that fits your needs. The minimum amount of time allowed is 15 seconds, and an error message displays if Times Out After is set for under 15 seconds.
