NSX Cord

DANGER
hazard of electric shock, explosion or arc flash
  • It is forbidden to use the NSX cords LV434200, LV434201, or LV434202 if the system voltage is greater than 480 Vac or 480 Vdc.
  • It is mandatory to use the insulated NSX cord LV434204 if the system voltage is greater than 480 Vac or 480 Vdc, and less than or equal to 690 Vac or 690 Vdc.
Failure to follow these instructions will result in death or serious injury.

Introduction

The NSX cord connects a circuit breaker to the ULP communication network.

The NSX cord can be used:

  • With a MicroLogic 5, 6, or 7 trip unit, for:

    • Communicating MicroLogic measurements and settings

    • Connecting the IMU to an IFE or IFM communication interface

    • Connecting the IMU to an FDM121 display

    • Connecting the IMU to IO modules

  • With a BSCM Modbus SL/ULP module:

    • For communicating the SD trip status to the BSCM Modbus SL/ULP module (in ULP only mode or in Modbus SL and ULP mode)

    • For connecting the IMU to an IFE or IFM communication interface (in ULP only mode)

    • For connecting the IMU to an FDM121 display or IO modules (in Modbus SL and ULP mode)

NOTE: The NSX cord cannot be installed in a ComPacT NSX400K circuit breaker.

For more information about integrating ComPacT NSX circuit breaker communication functions, refer to:

Description

The NSX cord consists of a junction box, a cable equipped with an RJ45 connector, and a cable equipped with a screw terminal block.

No.

Data medium

Data transmitted

Comments

A

NSX cord microswitch

State of SD contact

The NSX cord goes into the SD slot instead of the auxiliary contact.

B

Cable equipped with an RJ45 connector for connection to a ULP module.

Communication network

Three cable lengths are available:

  • LV434200: 0.35 m (1.15 ft)

  • LV434201: 1.3 m (4.3 ft)

  • LV434202: 3 m (9.8 ft)

C

Internal link to the MicroLogic 5, 6, or 7 trip unit or the BSCM Modbus SL/ULP module.

Communication network

With the BSCM Modbus SL/ULP module, the NSX cord also transmits the circuit breaker states.

The NSX cord also provides the 24 Vdc power supply:

  • For the MicroLogic 5, 6, or 7 trip unit (without BSCM Modbus SL/ULP module)

  • For the BSCM Modbus SL/ULP module (when this module is installed)

Installation

The slots used to install the NSX cord depend on the circuit breaker type.

NSX Cord Connection

The NSX cord connects to a ULP module:

  • IFM or IFE communication interface

  • FDM121 display

  • IO module

The figures below illustrate examples of connections of ULP modules by using the NSX cord.

Example 1: Connection of the FDM121 display and IO module to the BSCM Modbus SL/ULP module and the MicroLogic 5, 6, or 7 trip unit

Example 2: Connection of the IFM communication interface to the MicroLogic 5, 6, or 7 trip unit
