Decommission or Move the PDU to a New Location

DANGER

Electrical equipment must be installed, operated, serviced, and maintained only by qualified personnel.
Failure to follow these instructions will result in death or serious injury.
  1. Shut down the PDU completely – follow the instructions in Shut Down the PDU.
  2. Lockout/Tagout the upstream input breakers in the OFF (open) position.
  3. Perform one of the following:
    • Top cable entry: Remove the right side panels and indicated front plates from the PDU.
    • Bottom cable entry: Remove the right side panels and indicated front plates from the PDU.
  4. Measure for and verify ABSENCE of voltage on each input terminal before continuing.

    Failure to follow these instructions will result in death or serious injury.
  5. Disconnect and remove all power cables from the PDU. See Connect the Input Power Cables for details.
  6. Disconnect the load from the branch breakers. See Connect the Load to the Branch Breakers for details.
  7. Disconnect and remove the Modbus/Ethernet cables. See Connect the Modbus/Ethernet Cables for details.
  8. Reinstall the removed panels and plates.
  9. Remove the kick plates from all sides of the PDU.
  10. If present, remove the front seismic anchoring brackets from the PDU and the floor. Save for reinstallation.
  11. If present, remove the rear seismic anchoring brackets from the PDU and from the floor. Save for reinstallation.
  12. Lift the PDU with forklift, front to back or back to front and avoid tipping.
    WARNING
    Tipping hazard
    The PDU is very heavy and contains a very heavy transformer. When lifting the PDU with a forklift, keep the PDU as level as possible. Do not tilt the PDU while lifting it. Only use a forklift to lift the PDU, never use a pallet truck.
    Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury, or equipment damage.
  13. For transport over longer distances:
    WARNING

    For transport over longer distances, ensure:
    • that personnel performing the transport have necessary skill and have received adequate training;
    • to use appropriate tools to safely lift and transport the PDU;
    • to protect the product against damage by using appropriate protection (like wrapping or packaging).
    Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury, or equipment damage.

    Transportation requirements:

    • Mount the PDU in a vertical position in the center of a suitable pallet with minimum dimensions: 1860 x 1450 mm (73.2 in x 57.1 in). The pallet must be suitable for the weight of the PDU. The maximum weight for PDU is 2917 kg (6400 lbs).

    • Use appropriate means of fixation to mount the PDU to the pallet.

    • The original shipping pallet in combination with the original transportation brackets can be reused, if in undamaged condition.

    TIPPING hazard
    • The PDU must be appropriately fixed to the pallet immediately after being placed on the pallet.
    • The fixation hardware must be strong enough to withstand vibrations and shocks during loading, transport, and unloading.
    Failure to follow these instructions will result in death or serious injury.
  14. Perform one of the following:
    • Decommission the PDU, OR
    • Move the PDU to a new location to install it.
  15. Only for installing the PDU in a new location: Follow the installation manual to install the PDU in the new location. See Installation Procedure for installation overview.
