Indication Contacts

Introduction

Use indication contacts to view the status of the device remotely. One indicator contact model provides OF, SD, or SDE indication functions. The position of the contact inside the case determines the function.

Indication contacts are located under the front face of the device, in a compartment isolated from the power circuits. There are two types of indication contact:

  • Standard contact with spring terminals

  • Low-level contact with screw terminals

For more information about installation, consult the instruction sheet on the Schneider Electric website: NNZ4314501 Indication Contacts.

Standard and Low-Level Contacts

Standard and low-level contacts are the common point changeover type.

NC Normally Closed contact

NO Normally Open contact

The following table describes the operation of standard and low-level volt-free contacts:

Name

Definition

OF open/close indication contact

The OF contact indicates the position of the main contacts of the device (open or closed).

SD trip indication contact

The SD contact indicates that the device has tripped due to:

  • Operation of the push-to-trip button

  • Operation of the MN/UVR undervoltage trip release or MX/SHT shunt trip

  • Overload or thermal protection

  • Short-time protection

  • Instantaneous protection

  • Phase-unbalance protection

SDE electrical fault contact

The SDE contact indicates that the device has tripped on an electrical fault due to:

  • Overload or thermal protection

  • Short-time protection

  • Instantaneous protection

  • Phase-unbalance protection
