Distributed Energy Resources

Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) are small-scale energy resources usually situated near sites of electricity use, such as rooftop solar panels and battery storage. Their rapid expansion is transforming not only the way electricity is generated, but also how it is traded, delivered, and consumed.

Required Configurations

  • DERs must be configured to be single-terminal device.

  • Non-Spatial Representation Option:

    • Service Locations are in the electric device feature class.

    • Meters and DERs are listed as non-spatial features located in the electric JunctionObject table.

    • The meter and DER is connected only to the service location using a junction-to-junction connectivity association.

  • Spatial Representation Option:

    • Service locations are in the electric device feature class.

    • Meters are listed as non-spatial features located in the electric JunctionObject table.

    • The meter is connected only the service location using a junction-to-junction connectivity association.

  • The DER is a feature in the electric device feature class.

  • The DER is connected to the service point with a connector conductor.
