Network Modeling Categories

The Modeling Categories are used to discriminate features according to essential properties of interest to certain applications. Some of these have to do with specific modeling capabilities of the UN data model and indicate a choice in the way the ArcFM UN leverages those capabilities. The Tap Transformer, Inline Transformer, and Units Required categories are a few example categories. Other categories in this group help classify equipment using another property. The categories Overhead, Underground, and Submersible for example, all give a hint about the expected operating environment and design of the equipment to which they attach.

E:Has Connected Units	ElectricDevice JunctionObject	Used to identify a two-terminal feature type that serves as an electrical bank that contains non-spatial phase-specific units. Non-membership in this category indicates that the feature type is not allowed to have units.
E:Unit	JunctionObject	Used to tell the difference between a non-spatial junction that represents a unit, in the bank/unit containment pattern, and one that does not.
E:Open Point	JunctionObject	Used to identify a non-spatial unit (of a switchable device) whose DeviceStatus is permanently stuck in the “Open” state.
E:Pass Through	JunctionObject	Used to identify a non-spatial unit, of a switchable device, whose DeviceStatus is permanently stuck in the closed state.
E:Protective	Device JunctionObject	This category is used to form Conditions in Trace Configurations that need to identify protective devices, such as a Protective Device Trace.
E:Transformer – Tap	Device JunctionObject	Transformers with this network category are connected to the network through a TransformerTap.
E:Transformer - Inline	Device JunctionObject	Transformers with this network category can only be connected at endpoints of conductors.
E:Submersible	Line EdgeObject Device	Used to denote which conductors or transformers or switches, etc. are designed for underwater connections.
E:Underground	Line EdgeObject Device	Used to denote which conductors or transformers or switches, etc. are installed in underground structural networks.
E:Composite Electric Equipment	Assembly StructureBoundary	Denotes a high-order electric entity, such as a switch cabinet or a substation bay, that is a grouping of multiple features in the electric domain network, such as switches, fuses, busbar, conductors, etc.
E:Has Functional Equipment (Balanced Model Only)	Electric Device	Any electric device that could have functional equipment in the non-spatial object tables.
E:Functional Equipment (Balanced Model Only)	Junction Object	Non-spatial objects that can be functional equipment
