Equipment Network Categories
Equipment type categories are used to identify electrical equipment with respect to its basic function, such as a transformer, switch or conductor. They are also used to identify meaningful subclasses within some equipment types. Membership in an equipment type category often implies a set of applicable attributes. A UN feature that belongs to the transformer category, for example, is expected to have a PrimaryConnectionType attribute.
Required Configuration
All categories that apply to any given Asset Group Asset Type combination, both general and specific, should be assigned to that combination. This means that a combination for a fuse type in the device table, should belong to all of the categories shown for this example:
Example - Category assignment for an AssetGroup/AssetType combination in the Device table that corresponds to "fuse"
E:Switch
E:Switch - Fuse
E:Protective
NOTE: For equipment types in the unbalanced model, both the bank and unit will have the same network categories applied to them, differing only by the E:Has Connected Units (bank only) and the E:Unit (unit only) categories.
