Assignment Types

A session in Editor XI can pass through several assignments. Similarly, in ArcFM Mobile, a task can pass through several assignments.

This tab enables you to change the display name or color of an assignment type, and provides links to the corresponding client-side workflows.

IMPORTANT:
  • XI series applications provide default assignment types. These are denoted by an asterisk, as seen in the image above.

    • The default assignment types are incorporated into out-of-the-box workflows. They are designed to work natively with the applications.

    • You cannot delete default assignment types. However, you can customize their color, display name, and the roles allowed to be assigned to each type.

  • If you create a custom assignment type, it needs to be incorporated into a custom dynamic workflow in order to function. In other words, creating the assignment type is a single step of a larger process in creating a custom dynamic workflow.

Each entry in the left pane corresponds to assignment types that are used by XI series apps. Each one is similar in that they allow configuration of an arbitrary number of assignment types with their own names and colors.

To create a custom assignment type, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Add New button.

  2. Provide an Assignment Type Name.

  3. Type a Display Name. This is typically a shorter name that appears within the colored bubble.

  4. Use the Color selector to choose a color for the Display Name bubble.

  5. Decide which roles can get assigned this assignment type. To do so, next to Roles, click the Edit button.

  6. In the Edit Assignment Type Roles dialog, check the boxes next to the desired roles, then click Apply.

IMPORTANT: The roles you check also determines whether a user can see the Assignment Type in Session Manager under Available Work.

  7. Click Save.

As stated above, you then incorporate this custom Assignment Type into a custom dynamic workflow. Refer to the next topic, Studio, for more information about the power and architecture of dynamic workflows.
