Import Assets from a Snapshot
After creating the snapshot, you are ready to import it into another tenant.
-
The receiving tenant needs to be mapped in order to appear in the Tenant ID drop-down in Step 4 below. Refer to the Mapping topic, and the Tenant Role section.
-
You must ensure the toggle is on for the configuration you want to import. Mobile must have its own operational map with nothing else toggled.
-
We recommend that you create a snapshot of the receiving tenant prior to uploading the snapshot. You can then import the backup if you need to return the tenant to its previous state.
To import assets, follow these steps:
-
Click a Snapshot on the left to view its details.
NOTE: Use the Search field at the top to find a snapshot by its Title. -
At the bottom of the interface, click Import.
-
In the Import dialogue, choose the Tenant ID that should receive the Assets contained in the snapshot.
-
For Action, Merge accomplishes three tasks:
IMPORTANT: Only Merge is available for Mobile, GDBM, and Editor.-
Insert: If the snapshot contains an Asset that is currently not in the receiving tenant, that Asset is inserted into the receiving tenant.
-
Update: If the snapshot and the receiving tenant has the same Asset with the same GUID, the receiving tenant’s Asset is updated to match the snapshot.
-
Preserve: If the receiving tenant has Assets that are not in the snapshot, they are preserved as is. They are not updated, and they are not deleted.
-
Mirror: This means that the Assets in the receiving tenant are entirely replaced by the Assets in the snapshot. The receiving tenant’s Assets become exact copies of the Assets in the snapshot. This would include deleting Assets in the receiving tenant that are not in the snapshot.
IMPORTANT:- Designer: Templates and Stamp Graphics are treated differently when editing if your company has both gas and electric. In that scenario, while both Merge and Mirror are available in the drop-down, both actions behave like a Mirror. If your company only has gas or only has electric, this note does not apply to you, and both Merge and Mirror are available for Editing Templates and Stamp Graphics.
-
For certain items such as Templates and Stamp Graphics, you must restart Designer to see the imported configurations.
-
-
Select the destination operational map from the drop-down.
NOTE: There is configuration for GDBM, Editor, and Mobile that requires an operational map to receive the configuration. If that is required by any of the assets you've chosen to import, the Operational Map drop-down displays to enable selection. -
Select the Assets to include in the import.
-
Click OK.
This Import is processed, and it is added to Run history.
