Markup and Markup Types

Markup functionality helps users place graphics on the map in mobile apps and send them off to a GIS analyst who can then make permanent changes in the database using Editor XI.

The Markup plugin lists every markup sketch (and its related assignments) that users have submitted, and provides you with tools and error logs to help diagnose any problems that may arise with them successfully sending markups back to the geodatabase. You can define as many markup types as you need, define default palettes, and view service settings. The plugin has tabs for Markup Types, Markups, and Logs.

By default, each tenant has a single type of markup called Markup. This ‘markup type' typically has a default palette that is displayed for all operational maps. You can configure each operational map to either show the default palette, override the default with a different palette, or show no palette for a given markup type.

You can also configure multiple markup types that designate different purposes for markups (e.g., map corrections or patrol observations). Each new markup type potentially results in an additional palette on each operational map. Thus, one operational map can have as many palettes as there are markup types.

Users of ArcFM Mobile appreciate the markup aspect of the app, and they benefit from its unparalleled ability to integrate with Editor XI, Designer XI. Refer to the Markup Configuration section of the ArcFM Mobile Implementation Guide.
