Associate Conduit to Duct Bank

When you sketched the conduit, perhaps you did not know what the duct bank and duct configuration was. That is OK, because you can create the duct bank and duct configuration within Diagram Manager, and then associate it to the conduit. In other words, this is the opposite of “Create Duct Banks from Conduit.” In this case, you create the duct bank and ducts, and then associate it to the conduit.

Associate

  1. Expand the Associate Conduit to Duct Bank step.
  2. Click the Associate Conduit to Duct Bank task to highlight it.

  3. Notice, the bottom of the pane displays Dissociated Items. These are conduits that do not yet have a duct bank, and duct banks that do not yet “live” in a conduit. The goal here is to bring the two disassociated items together.

IMPORTANT: Regarding the option “Only Show Conduits Connected to Structure,” read the Create Duct Banks from Conduit topic > Step 3 to learn about these choices.

  4. Select a conduit from the list. When you click a conduit, it is highlighted on the diagram. Only disassociated conduits appear in the list.
  5. Select a duct bank from the list. When you click a duct bank, it is highlighted on the diagram. Only disassociated duct banks appear in the list.
  6. Click the Associate button.

If the conduit already has a duct bank and ducts, you are prompted. This is a moment to pause. Does the conduit already have the proper duct configuration? If so, click No, and then use the Create Duct Banks from Conduit tool. If the conduit’s current duct configuration is incorrect, click Yes to overwrite the current configuration with the duct configuration in the diagram.

When the conduit and duct bank are related, they are moved to the Associated Items tab and removed from the Disassociated Items tab. Further, the conduit’s internal Configuration is updated to reflect the duct bank within the diagram.

Associate Using the Map

This tool allows you to select features on the diagram and relate them.

  1. Expand the Associate Conduit to Duct Bank step.
  2. Select the Associate Conduit to Duct Bank task.
  3. Click the Associate button.
  4. On the diagram, click a conduit and a duct bank (in any order). If either of the features already participate in another relationship, you will receive a warning.

Disassociate

  1. Expand the Associate Conduit to Duct Bank step.
  2. Select the Associate Conduit to Duct Bank task.
  3. Select the Associated Items tab.

  4. Select a feature. When you click a feature on the tab, it is highlighted on the diagram.
  5. Click the Disassociate button.

When the conduit and duct bank are unrelated, they are moved to the Disassociated Items tab and removed from the Associated Items tab.
