Create New Folder
Organize your fiber favorites into folders. Folders are used to contain similar fiber assets. For example, you might have a folder that contains all your patch locations, a different folder for cables, a different folder for splices, etc.
-
Folders should be named and ordered in a logical way for the Fiber Editors, so the proper fiber asset can be found quickly.
-
You are allowed to have nested folders (in other words, folders can contain sub-folders).
-
Folders can contain a mix of fiber favorites and sub-folders. For example, you could have a folder called “Patch Locations” that also includes a sub-folder for splices and a stand-alone slack loop favorite. However, with the goal of making things easy to find, we recommend trying to keep all related assets together within their own folders.
To get started, follow these steps:
-
Verify you are editing.
Click the Edit tab and see if your Edit tool is currently enabled. If not, click the Edit tool once to enable editing.
-
In Fiber Builder > Favorites, right-click where you want a new folder and choose New folder.
-
Type a name for the new folder, then click Add Folder. This name is visible to all users, so ensure it makes sense for everybody.
-
By default, new folders appear at the bottom of the list. If needed, you can re-position the folder. Click and hold the folder, then drag into the desired position. You can also use this same action to move a folder into another folder.
-
Click Apply.
