How to View Fiber Splices
Here is some information to keep in mind when looking at the splice details window.
-
Cables and their high-level attributes appear in the boxes. They are sorted by Object ID.
-
The fibers are called out by fiber number, splice type, and group number:
IMPORTANT: The group number identifies the fibers that are spliced together as a set. In this manner, you can determine the other side of the splice at a glance by looking for the same group number. -
If fibers are not spliced, they have an asterisk (*) for their group number.
-
Lines provide a visual of the spliced groups of fibers. You can also color code these lines to make following the group number easier to read.
It only takes a few steps to view Fiber Splices.
-
On your map in Fiber Manager XI, navigate reasonably close to the desired splice.
-
On the Main Menu > Fiber tab, click Fiber Splices. Notice, your cursor changes to green.
-
Click once on the desired splice.
The Fiber Splices tool only works for splices. If you click a different fiber feature, look for the notification, No valid features for Splice Details were found.
-
A Fiber Splices pane appears displaying the schematic of the splice.
