Sketch a Fiber Cable

In this example, a new fiber cable is sketched, leading from the splice case to the customer location.

To sketch your sketch, follow these steps:

  1. Open a session.

  2. On the Main Menu > Fiber tab, open Fiber Builder.

  3. On the left-hand side, under Favorites, locate the fiber cable favorite you require.

NOTE: If you not see a cable favorite, you can create one. See Create and Manage Fiber Favorites for more information.
  4. Right-click the fiber cable favorite and select Create new feature.

IMPORTANT: If you did not save earlier edits, you may receive a “Save Pending Edits” message. When you sketch a new fiber facility, the application automatically saves the current work. If you need to edit a previous sketch, click Cancel and perform your edits. Then, restart this workflow. If you are ready to sketch, click OK.
  5. In the map, bring your fiber cable near the splice case and make sure the feature snaps to the splice case. See Turn Snapping On or Off for more information.

  6. Click directly on the splice case to begin the sketch.

  7. Continue to sketch the fiber cable.

    • Each click places a vertex (or bend) in the fiber cable.

    • Right-click at any time to reveal a variety of sketch tools, such as Angle, Direction, Length.

See Editing in ArcGIS Pro for more information about editing maps.

    • You can still navigate around the map mid-sketch.

  8. To stop sketching, double-click your final vertex.

  9. With the fiber cable selected, on the Main Tool Ribbon > Edit tab > Selection tool group, click Attributes.

  10. In the window that opens, update the attributes for the fiber cable, click Apply, and save your session.

Enable Auto Apply if you want the application to automatically apply your attribute changes as you make them. This feature disables the Apply button because every attribute edit is automatically applied.
