View Fiber Connections
When Fiber Connections opens initially, it displays the fiber facility that appears alphabetically first on the left side, and whatever that facility’s first fiber or port is connected to on the right side. From that point forward, you have control over the display and what connections you wish to view.
Connection Drop-Downs
The connection drop-down lists all fiber assets, sorted in alphanumeric order. Use the drop-downs on either side of the dialog to choose which fiber facilities you want to view. Once you choose a fiber facility, the table automatically updates to show those fibers or ports and their connections. Fiber Connections uses various symbols to indicate connection information:
-
A black line indicates a connection between the two records currently visible.
-
A stub
icon indicates the fiber or port is currently not connected.
-
A squap (square lollipop)
icon indicates the fiber or port is connected, but not to the fiber feature on the opposite side of the Fiber Connections list.
Connection Drop-Down Filter
-
You can copy and paste or type regular text, no wildcards, into the drop-down field. You can click a search result or use the arrow keys to navigate the list.
As you scroll through the results, the connection is highlighted in the table.
Connection Display
When a connection on both sides is present, you can perform these, read-only actions:
-
Click it once to highlight. This highlights not only the connection line itself, but also the two rows on both sides of the dialog. This makes it easier to visualize the connections.
-
Use the shift and ctrl key to make multiple selections in the list.
-
Click anywhere in the “white space” to clear the currently selected rows.
Column Order and Column Width
You can temporarily change the column order and column width. When you select a different fiber asset in the drop-down or choose a different fiber point feature on the map, the settings revert back to default.
-
To change the column order, click and hold a column, then drag it into position.
-
To change the column width, hover your cursor in between columns, then click and drag to your desired width.
