Use Fiber Connections on Fiber Point Features

In this example, a new splice case was added to an existing fiber cable, a new patch location was sketched at a customer location, and a new fiber cable was sketched to connect the two. The next step is to “open” the new splice and the patch location with Fiber Connections in order to create the strand-to-strand and strand-to-port connections.

To use Fiber Connections, follow these steps:

  1. On the Main Tool Ribbon > ArcFM Editor XI > Fiber tab, open Fiber Connections.

  2. In the map, use the Fiber Connections tool to click the fiber point feature that requires fiber connection work. In this case, that could be the splice case or the patch location.

  3. Use Fiber Connections to establish all strand connections. For more information, see the help topic Create Connections.

  4. Click Apply. Repeat as needed.

Run a Trace to Verify Connections

After using Fiber Connections on the fiber point features, we recommend running a trace to check that the proper fibers were spliced/connected to ports. In other words, the trace should follow the expected path of service for the new customer.

To run a trace, see the help topic Full Path Trace.
