Full Path Trace
A Full Path trace displays all connected fiber facilities from start to end.
-
It is bi-directional, no matter where you initiate the trace.
-
You can initiate the trace at many points, including:
-
On a fiber within a cable.
-
On a fiber within a splice case.
-
On a port within a patch location or device.
-
To run a Full Path trace, follow these steps:
-
Navigate to the fiber facility where you want to initiate the trace.
-
This can be at the start, end, or anywhere in the middle of the fiber path.
-
It can be a fiber optic cable, a splice case, or it can be a location with ports, such as patch panel within a patch location or a device.
-
-
On the Main Menu > Fiber tab, click Fiber Tracing.
-
A Fiber Tracing pane appears and includes these tools.
-
Select Trace Location - Use this tool to click a fiber facility or fiber optic cable and initiate the trace.
-
Zoom to Extent - This zooms and pans the map to display the trace path, start to end.
-
Clear Trace - After performing a trace, this removes the current trace results.
-
Create Circuit Using Trace Results - After performing a trace, you can save the results as a circuit. See the topic Create a New Circuit.
-
Create Trace Report - After performing a trace, you can export the results to a report.
-
-
Before you initiate the trace, you can specify a wavelength on the Options tab.
-
In the map, click on the fiber facility where you want to initiate the trace.
-
A Trace Selector dialog appears. It shows all the available ports from which to run the trace (if you initiate the trace from a fiber optic cable or splice, it displays all the fibers). Check the box next to the port (or fiber) where you want to initiate the trace, then click OK.
NOTE:-
A Full Path trace is bi-directional so the results are the same whether you start at the front port or back port of the same number.
-
You can check multiple ports or fibers, but do so with a specific purpose. The traces are merged and presented as one result.
-
If the trace results contain multiple branches or traces, generate a trace report for information about specific loss and distance values.
-
-
See the results in the Fiber Tracing pane and the trace path is selected on the map.
-
When finished looking at the trace results, click the Clear Trace
tool.
