Fiber Object Tables

The fields in the table below are the required fields in the Fiber Manager 10.x data model. With a couple exceptions, all of the Fiber Manager 10.x fields have an equivalent field in the Fiber Manager XI data model. Your company likely added other fields to your data model, and these fields vary by company. Thus, they are not represented in the table below. Most likely, there is a logical field in the Fiber Manager XI data model to accept your additional fields. Work with your implementation team to determine the best fit.

In Fiber Manager 10.x, the single F_RIBBON table included attributes for both bundles and ribbons. In Fiber Manager XI, Bundles and Ribbons are in separate tables.

F_SFP

Fiber Manager XI does not plan on including small form-factor pluggable devices in its data model. However, you can model them as an Active Device.

F_SFPCOMMONPORT

Fiber Manager XI does not plan on including small form-factor pluggable devices in its data model. However, you can model them as an Active Device.

F_SFPSPLITPORT

Fiber Manager XI does not plan on including small form-factor pluggable devices in its data model. However, you can model them as an Active Device.

F_SHELF

F_SPLITTERINPUTPORT

SplitIn

This is the child of the Communications Junction > Asset Group of Splitter. This splitter is sketched on the map, and the SplitIn is related to it to model the input ports of the splitter.

SplitIn is not used to represent splitter ports associated with a splitter that’s housed in a patch location or splice.

F_SPLITTEROUTPUTPORT

SplitOut

This is the child of the Communications Junction > Asset Group of Splitter. This splitter is sketched on the map, and the Splitout is related to it to model the output ports of the splitter.

SplitOut is not used to represent splitter ports associated with a splitter that’s housed in a patch location or splice.

F_SPLITTERDEVICE

PassiveDevice or ActiveDevice

This splitter device is meant to represent a splitter that is housed in a patch location or splice. It is not meant to be related to the Communications Junction > Asset Group of Splitter that is sketched on the map.

Fiber Manager XI does not provide a direct equivalent of the F_SPLITTERDEVICE object table. Instead, you can model your splitters that reside in patch locations or splices as either PassiveDevices or ActiveDevices. Most companies differentiate “passive” and “active” by whether or not the device is non-powered or powered, respectively.

F_SPLITTERDEVICEINPUTPORT

PassiveDeviceCommonPort or ActiveDeviceCommonPort

Read the note above regarding F_SPLITTERDEVICE. With that knowledge, this represents the input ports associated with a splitter that’s housed in a patch location or splice.

F_SPLITTERDEVICEOUTPUTPORT

PassiveSplitPort or ActiveSplitPort

Read the note above regarding F_SPLITTERDEVICE. With that knowledge, this represents the output ports associated with a splitter that’s housed in a patch location or splice.

Bundle

IMPORTANT:
  • In Fiber Manager 10.x, the F_RIBBON table included all information for both bundles and ribbons. Thus, during migration, you need to migrate data specific to the ribbons out of the F_RIBBON table and into the Ribbon table in Fiber Manager XI, and you need to migrate data specific to the bundles out of the F_RIBBON table and into the Bundle table in Fiber Manager XI.

  • Because these were previously stored in a single table in Fiber Manager 10.x, for Fiber Manager XI you also need to create the parent/child relationships with appropriate fiberparent GUIDs between the Bundle and Ribbon tables. In other words, because in Fiber Manager 10.x it was a single table of F_RIBBON (no relationship) but in Fiber Manager XI it is now two related tables of Bundle > Ribbon, a new relationship has been inserted. This new relationship does not have any pre-existing GUIDs to track who is related to whom, and these GUIDs need to be created.
