Update Connectable Object Classes
Connectable fiber objects have two attribute fields that are crucial to the performance of circuit management and tracing; TopLevelCMN and TopLevelGUID.
The Update Connectable Object Classes tool populates these fields for all your connectable object tables. Before running this tool, keep the following in mind:
-
Run this tool one time toward the end of data migration. It establishes a baseline for the attribute fields. After running this tool, the AUs maintain the fields and data integrity from that point onward.
-
This tool can only be run by an administrator (somebody with the Fiber.Admin role).
-
This tool is not present on the ArcGIS Pro tool ribbon by default, and it must be added by an administrator.
-
The fields TopLevelCMN and TopLevelGUID must be present and mapped in Solution Center before running this tool. See the Connectable Objects topic to learn more about field mapping.
-
This tool must be run within a session or version. Do not run this tool against the default version of your database. Running this tool against the default version can cause data corruption.
-
This tool should be run before end users start editing the fiber data. Again, the purpose is to establish an optimal baseline of attributes, then let the AUs maintain the data from there. Thus, no end users should have open sessions or be editing any data prior to running this tool.
To use the Update Connectable Object Classes tool, follow these steps:
-
Launch ArcGIS Pro and click Settings > Options > Customize the Ribbon.
-
From the Choose commands from list, select All Commands.
-
In the search field, type update connect. Click on Update Connectable Object Classes, add it to the ribbon, and click OK.
-
Open your project and then open a session.
IMPORTANT: As stated above, you must run this tool within a session. Do not run this tool against the default version of the database. -
Click the Update Connectable Object Classes tool.
-
After the tool finishes, reconcile and post the session to the default.
-
Use the ArcGIS Pro Options > Customize the Ribbon to remove the tool from the ribbon.
Your data is now ready, and the AUs maintain these fields from this point forward.
