Publish the Fiber Feature Service
A feature service is a data hosting service that holds your configured tables, layers, and geometry data so that you can interact with it. This step shares the map data in ArcGIS Server so ArcFM Solution Center and Fiber Manager XI can connect to and interact with the data.
Feature Service Requirements
-
Make sure each feature class, table, and circuit relationship is only included once in the table of contents.
-
Make sure there are no definition queries written against any layer.
-
The Portal for ArcGIS user must have a Publisher or Administrator role.
-
The published feature service must have the mapping, feature access, network diagram, version management, and utility network capabilities.
To publish the feature service:
-
In ArcGIS Pro, click Share > Web Layer > Publish Web Layer.
-
In the window that opens, enter the Name, Summary, and any Tags.
NOTE: Enter the name of the map you created in the map properties window. The feature service name and the map name must match. -
Under Data and Layer Type > Map Image, enable Feature. The lets you share the map as a feature service.
-
Under Location > Portal Folder, select the location you want to save the feature service. Click the folder to select a different location. By default, the web layer is stored at the root level of your portal content.
-
Under Location > Server and Folder, make sure that the correct URL is listed of your Portal for ArcGIS.
-
On the right side of the portal URL field, click the disk to create a data store on the selected server.
In the window that opens, on the right side corner, click Add > Database.
In the Add data store window, enter the connection details.
-
Enter the title, tags, and select the Portal Folder to store the data.
-
For Publisher database connection, click Import to open the local ArcGIS Pro project folder and select your active database connection file.
-
Select the server to add your datastore and click Validate.
-
Enable the applicable groups to share with, then click Create.
-
-
On the Share as Web Layer window, under Share with, select who you want to share the feature service with.
-
Click the Configuration tab.
-
Click the General Tab and under Capabilities, enable Version Management.
-
Under Finish Sharing, click Analyze.
The system then checks the data for errors. See the Analyze your GIS Resource article for more information about error and warning messages and how to clear them.
-
After the messages are resolved, click Publish. Once complete, a status message is printed with a link to the portal folder location.
