Apply the Asset Package

After you create the Utility Network (UN), you apply the asset package to it. The result is a series of tables, feature layers, and relationships that define your GIS project. Fiber Manager XI works with these tables and layers to represent them as features on a map.

NOTE: The connected ArcGIS Enterprise Portal account must be the UN owner, and not the DB owner (DBO).

To configure the UN:

  1. In ArcGIS Pro, open the Geoprocessing window and search for Apply Asset Package.

  2. Click the tool and the Apply Asset Package window opens.

  3. Next to the Asset Package field, click the folder icon and navigate to your unzipped asset package file or your modified asset package file that reflects your data model changes. Select the file and click OK.

  4. Under Domain Networks, enable both Structure and Communications.

  5. In the Catalog pane, expand the Databases folder and select the Utility Network file. Drag and drop the file next to the Input Utility Network field.

IMPORTANT: If you are performing a database migration, do not enable Load data because the sample assets are imported into the project. If you want to include the sample data in your project, we recommend running Apply Asset Package twice: first with Load Data unchecked, and then again with Load Data checked.

  6. To increase performance, enable Calculate Spatial Index and Analyze, then click Run.

  7. When complete, go to the Catalog pane. Right click the enterprise geodatabase and click Refresh. Repeat this process for the FiberNetwork dataset.
  8. You should see all the Fiber Manager XI and UN tables. This data can now be versioned and published as a feature service.
