Connectable Objects
The Connectable Objects tab is where you configure the display and functionality of fiber strands and ports within the Fiber Connections section of Fiber Manager XI.
The fiber objects that you select as connectable appear in the Connectable Objects list. If you do not see a fiber asset in the list, go to Fiber Objects and make sure the Connectable box is checked. Only non-spatial fiber objects, such as ports and fiber strands, can be selected as connectable objects.
These are the configurations for each object:
-
Sort Field: This is the field used to sort the ports or fibers within Fiber Connections. The value is the port number or fiber number. They are sorted ascending in the Fiber Connections pane.
-
Available Field: This is the field used to track availability of the port or strand.
-
ModeType Field: This is the field used to track the mode type of the fiber strand (single-mode or multi-mode).
-
Trays: Track the tray number containing your splices between strands or with pigtail connectors.
-
Supports Self Connection: Allows connections between objects of the same type, in the same container. Examples include modeling a jumper between two front ports on a rack, or making a loop-back connection between two strands in the same cable.
