Switching and Restoration Orders

Responder allows users to create switching orders and restoration steps. They differ from each other in that switching orders are for planned outages, while restoration steps are used with outage incidents. Both switching orders and restoration steps can be assigned to incidents. An incident can have multiple switching orders, but only one set of restoration steps. Note the Type field highlighted in the image below.

In many cases the switch order process may begin with a Switch Order Request. This request is submitted using the Responder web browser.

The Sample Workflow section provides example scenarios for requesting and creating a switching order as well as creating a restoration order for an incident.
